Every person in Littletown has a secret.
The problem is that there are no trustworthy ears on which these secrets can fall. A young boy realizes this, and so begins his small business of secret keeping. He’ll hear anything that can be told, for the fee of 25 cents per tale.
From these secrets emerge dark realizations about the troubles of Littletown’s children – victims of bullying; of neglect and loneliness; revealing themselves in the whispered stories. Each of the children who comes to the secret keeper is tormented by mystical creatures. These creatures lurk, biding their time in the town’s shady walks and hidden retreats.
Each of these creatures represents the seven deadly sins.

They are known as the innocent ones, children, infants, our little ones. However, the mortal sins that affect adults fail to pass the cheeks of the ingenious ones and lead them down into spirals of unfortunate and sometimes terrifying circumstances.This book tells the story of one village boy who takes it upon himself to help the people of LittleTown by holding their secrets, however it is indeed the secrets of the children that seem to harbour something far more ominous when read passed its face value. The entire theme of the book is that of the seven deadly sins as outlined in the 4th century by Evagrius Ponticus; and can at times be thought of as an overused theme. However, the way Hosein illustrates each mortal sin through the eyes of the children is masterfully executed and is indeed a new and unique attempt; such as comedic elements as well creating a mythological creature for each sin, and including a and perilous journey associated with it. What adds to these frightful tales are the images drawn by the author himself. This reminds us of the innocence of the children and how their imaginative minds would have interpreted the horrible things happening to and around them.

This is an outstanding little novella. I loved it and recommend to everyone.
It is like a book of fairy tales for children, but the content is not necessarily appropriate for kids. There are not many books like this one.
